Crucial question to create BOM or Route!?

Hi All,

In ax 2009 it is possible to create TEMPLATE for ITEM, ROUTE(ONLY HEADER), BOM (ONLY HEADER) by right cilck on respective one.

BUT

Can we create template for BOM LINES or ROUTE LINES!?

I mean just we create Template for BOM(Header Part). After this if we use this template to create an item, does it help to create BOM LINES for that item?

All bom lines attached with that BOM(Header Part) will be carry forwarded to new item?

No because of the inherent structure of the tables, creating it in here does not just create it in one table. A template is table based so allowing it would created corrupted data. This is why you have the function to copy data in. This is the way it should be done, it is not like anyone creates this BOM’s this is a skilled job that must be done accurately and the function tool is perfect for the use in this instance.

Hmm… Adam good idea to go with CopyBom function.

Means if we want to use same bom struct for any other item then just call to copy bom function.

My question was how to use Whole BOM Struct for new item i am creating in AX.

it was not about importing data to AX.
