Inventory showing +5 decimal places

I have recently taken over the warehouse managment (really having to learn on the job and fast). I am on Nav 2009 (Role Taylored with Class as well and have the advanced warehouse module). One of the many problems i have inherited is that some inventory items have decimal places. For example:

  • 1 case should = 24 units. But i am showing 1 case = 23.99992 units

  • or 1 case should = 12 unit, but I am showing 1.83332 cases = 22.00004 units

I have tried doing inventory journals to take the stock out (bring it down to zero), but I just can’t get it right, I alway seem to have decimals involved.

How do i fix this problem and how can I get rid of these decimals?

thanks

Kathy

I see this happen when your sales unit of measure doesn’t have enuf merch on hand to cover that unit.

For example I have an item with the base unit opf measure of EACH=1
I have a Sales unit of measure of DEAL=24
But I only have 23 on hand.

When someone orders the 1 DEAL our system shows we only have .83333 of it instock.
Then Nobody catches it and viola the quantity now has 5 decimals.
If it’s short we usually don’t ship it , but does slip by time to time.

We either just do a Positive/Negative journal entry to get it back to an integer.
But if your having problems getting the right calculation you can use the Phy’s Inventory Journal to do it for you.

It will pull up (example) 23.9999 - you can enter 24 and it will correct it.

Hope that made sence. Just look at the item ledger entries of one of these items with the 5 decimals and it should be easy to spot where it went wrong.
