Clone dynamics AX 2013 R3 environment

Hi

I have an AX 2012 R3 testing environment, it was installed/configured on the physical machines as below:

Machine 1: SQL 2012 + AX database + AX Business Intelligence components

Machine 2: AX AOS

Since there are some testing data already imported into this environment, i want to have a couple of clone of this environment. the process would be like this:

  1. backup the AX database on the current SQL Server environment.

  2. restore the database on the target SQL server and install the AX database component by using the existed database.

  3. install the business intelligence components on the target SQL server.

  4. install/configure a new AOS server and connect to the new AX database.

any suggestion ?

Backup and restore of AX database surely is an option. Your other option, especially if you don’t want to copy all data from the source database or to overwrite all data in the target system, is Test Data Transfer Tool.
