Restore SQL Server 2012 DB to SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi Guys,

I am trying to replicate an AX environment to my Virtual Machine for my testing. My virtual machine has SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. Can I restore the DB from SQL Server 2012? or I need to re-install SQL Server 2012 on my virtual machine?

You really can’t restore databases from a newer version, therefore you’ll have to install SQL Server 2012.
