zup file lost

when importing modified objects into Navision, the users’ zup files are reset by Navision; therefore, preset user preferences (show column, …) are lost; this only occurs in a multi-user environment; any idea whether a fix exists for this ? thanks

Topic moved from “NOLUG” to “NF End-User”.

As soon as an object is compiled the settings in the zup is ignored and the default settings for the object (column settings an such) are used for all users . //Lars

The solution is as easy as can be:

  • Save ZUP files
  • Import the objects
  • Restore ZUP files

Easy solution, but when new objects are affected by the settings within the zup files, sometimes you need to delete them to make sure the new options flow through to the gui that the user sees. This sounds very easy, but I have seen Marcus suggestion used and somehow it still did not work. Did we miss a trick somewhere along the line? Also how do we help the client manage this porcess when there are plus 25 users and a good % of these users are not 100% computer proficient. _________________________ Wendy O’Connor Practice Leader woconnor@csbsystems.com CSB Systems Calgary, Alberta T2R 1L9 T:(403) 233-2955 x 224 F:(403) 233-2957

If the client uses network drives, then the Navision desktop shortcuts could be modified once and all of the zupfiles stored on a network drive under their username (basically the same way you set up a Citrix solution).
