Upgrade NAV 2009 to NAV 2016

I’m currently doing an upgrade for a NAV 2009 (no SP) to NAV 2016.

We are only upgrading a small number of the existing customizations. No reports or forms are upgraded. Only code and some fields and new tables.

The plan is to upgrade from NAV 2009 to NAV 2009 R2 first, and then remove the customizations/plus one large addon not needed anymore. And then use the NAV 2009 to NAV 2015 upgrade toolkit, before upgrading to NAV 2016.

I have not been able to located the upgrade toolkit for NAV 2009 to NAV 2009 R2 (danish) if one even exists. And no NAV 2009 to NAV 2016, only NAV 2009 SP1/R2 to NAV 2015.

But is there a better way to do this?

There are 2 ways of doing Upgrade to NAV2016 from NAV2009SP1/R2.

first you have to upgrade from 2009 to 2009SP1/R2. I am not sure whether there is a upgrade toolkit available or not for Danish version.

  1. NAV2009SP1/R2–>NAV2015–>NAV2016

  2. NAV2009SP1/R2–>NAV2013–>NAV2016

I prefer 1st method only and I have succeeded in NL localzation by following 1st step.

The first task is really to relocate the upgrade tool for NAV 2009 to NAV 2009 SP1/R2. There is only 370/400 tools included on the NAV 2009 R2 dvd. But I don’t remember if that’s because there are no upgrade toolkit, only new/changed objects. Did not do a NAV 2009 to NAV 2009 SP1/R2 upgrade for 4-5 years now.

If the Upgrade Toolkit folder of DVD didnt contain the FOB then it means we can directly convert to NAV2009SP1/R2

And it’s slowly coming back to my mind (I only did 3 or 4 of those).

You’re right there is no upgrade toolkit for NAV 2009 to NAV 2009 SP1/R2. Which is great, because then I just need to run the 2013R2 or 2015 upgrade toolkit. One step less. But it’s still quite a task list:
