The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

I just started as an IT-manager in a company that uses NAV 4. Since changing over to Windows 7 (believed) they receive the following error when opening or changing company (Ctrl O): “The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file”. Can anyone please help?

Additional question: The database contains hundreds of companys - can this fact have crucialnegative influence on the unsatisfactory performance?

Hej Morten

With NAV 4.0 it’s important to ensure that you are running on service pack 4.0 - and a build that supports Windows 7. But I assume that you’re already doing that - as you otherwise wouldn’t have been able to login to NAV at all. But the error maybe related to a wrong installation of you program. Have heard about this error being caused by someone who had an older version of NAV installed, side-by-side with the newer and supported version. So if you have multiple versions of NAV installed, then you should try to uninstall the older versions.

In terms of having hundreds of companies installed, then this is not a major problem, as long as you use SQL Server, as all tables are stored individually for each companies.

Is that a typo? 4.00sp4?

Hej Erik

On the clients we are running version DK 4.00 Servicepack 3 - should we upgrade to SP4?

We are using a native server. Is that a major problem in relation to having hundreds of companies?

Best regards
Morten

Hej Morten

I meant 4.0 Service Pack 3 - not 4 as I wrote as David pointed out. It was a typo.

But NAV 4.0 SP3 is not just NAV 4.0 SP3. It depends on the build no. - you can see this by checking the properties from Windows of FIN.EXE. As far as I remember, then the build no. should be higher than 29000. Also make sure no other NAV installation is on the same machine.

The native server could be a problem if you have hundreds of companies, AND lots of users and lots of data. But maybe some of our performance specialists could answer that.

Hej Erik

OK with SP :-).

File version is 4.0.3.25143. Is the build thus 25143? How can I upgrade?

Hi Morten

Sorry for the late reply. You can upgrade by contacting your partner and have them do this. Or alternatively if you are familiar with the way NAV hotfixes are applied, then you can find the hotfixes/updates on Microsoft’s website and apply them yourself. But when you do so, then you should upgrade all your PC’s which are running NAV today, so that they all are on the same version.

Hi Erik. Can you send me a link to the hotfix? Will the update of the client have any influence on the server?
