Release Sales Order Picking

Hi all

Can anybody explain me about Release Sales Order Picking Concept? What actually its purpose and how to setup?

Hi …

I am using AX2012, but the principals are the same … This is just an example of a business process flow, it may not meet your requirements, but at least it may help you understand.

For example … you create a sales order for an item that you cannot supply. You create a purchase order for this item, confirm the p/o with the appropriate delivery dates etc …You ‘could’ then use the item arrive form to select the outstanding order … start the arrive process …creating arrival journal … then posting the arrive journal.

This basically states that the items have arrived, albeit not receipted yet … the item that you ordered should now be available in the release sales order pick form (after selecting), for you to activate (activation) and release for picking.

There is more to it than this example, and more to consider with the process flow, such as manual reservation, automatic reservations, do you use arrive overview etc … but hopefully it might guide you in the right direction.
