At the time of an Item creation wrongly choose serial enabled dimension group and lot of transactions posted. For this item we does not require serial, so year ending time admin user changed item dimension group to without serial dimension group. Presently on-hand stocks are showing with and without serials.
When we are posting pending invoices getting this error “Inventory dimension serial number is inactive and may consequently not be specified”.
Please help to solve this issue from functional level on AX 2009.
You cannot as standard change the item dimension group from serial to non-serial when transactions exist. You must either have accomplished this through development or a data hack. Your only option now is to get a developer to look at it. As standard you would have to have created a new item record and progressed forward in that manner due to stock being serialised not being so. Of course if you wanted now you have this you could simply not reserve and not specify the serial number and do what the error message wants.
