Difference between Navision version 3.7 & version

Dear Experts!!! What is the difference between Navision version 3.7 & version 4.0??? Is migration possible for the same??? Shilpa

Please search this forum for 3.70 and 4.0. There are plenty of topics explaining the difference already.

Shilpa I would sak the major difference is the User Interface. 4.00 uses the Microsoft Wonder Bar navigator. Underneath the shiny new coats the functionality remains broadly the same. Yes it is possible to migrate / upgrade from 3.70 to 4.00. I recommend waiting for Service Pack 2 when a number of fucntional and operational errors are fixed.

HI Jonathan, I hav ebeen basically saying to users to wait for SP1 for this reason. But that’s because there were specific issues that made sense. What is coming in SP2 that makes it worth the wait?

Hello Shilpa, these links should give you a headstart. http://www.mbsonline.org/forum/file_library.asp?showmethefile=32&thatcat=17&thiscat=Manuals+and+User+Guides http://www.mbsonline.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15934 http://www.mbsonline.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10781 Saludos Nils

Hey David, It is difficult to say for sure because as end-users we are living in a mushroom farm. We have just implemented 4.00 for a small manufacturing site and have a long list of major and minor problems that are being fixed ad-hoc or are promised. Here’s a sample. ZUP file corrupted leaving user with full navigation pane. Modifiying menus does not copy and insert correctly. MPS does not calculate according to parameters MRP deos not calculate according to parameters Faults in Table 37 (modify a line in an order and receive message that you cannot update when object called in modal state). Consumption journal locking. Closing a started prodcution order has not been implemented. This site makes big, complicated stuff with many components. We were advised to work with ‘Lot-for-Lot’ re-ordering and limited re-order modifiers - so any advice and experiencing on making the MPS / MRP engine owrk will be gratefully received. But there is little evidence in the UK of Manufacturing being used comprehensively

But you mean 4.0 no SP. Is there anything specific that you knwo wll be fixed in SP2 that is not in SP1?

According to out Solution Center, whoops Microsoft Partner, the fixes for the listed problems are NOT in SP1 and may not be included in SP2 as I think (?) that SP2 is already at release stage…

I reported a bug and they said it would be fixed in SP3, so it seems SP2 is indeed in the RC stages.
