AX2009-Hosted-Number/Date Formatting

If you have a ‘single instance/multi company’ hosted AX2009 then the date/number formatting used by the application is subject to the Windows regional settings on the hosted server’s OS. So if your hosted server’s regional settings are UK, in a US company in the AX instance the date formatting is incorrect and in a German company in the AX instance the number formatting is wrong.

I’m used to ERP systems where these kinds of settings are done in the application e.g. linked to a company or user entity and not dependent on client/server Windows settings. But AX does not seem to work this way. Obviously each local user has the appropriate Windows regional settings on their local PC but these are ‘invisible’ to the hosted AX running on the remote server.

So far, both our hosting partner and our ‘global’ AX partner have failed to come up with a solution, which seems surprising as this is a very basic requirement for running a multi-company international ERP system.

Other than running multiple ‘company’ instances on the host so each AX company has its own regional settings on its own virtual/physical server does anyone have any idea how is this is managed in a single instance hosted AX?
