AX 2009 - Does AX calculate balancing depreciation upon asset disposal?

Hi all

I have an asset in Ax. Its Net Book Value at the end of August is £2000. Its cost was £10,000. So it has been depreciated by £8,000. On 15 September we sold this asset for £3000. Our policy at our company is to depreciate assets upto the day they are sold/disposed. Is it possible for AX to automatically generate and post a depreciation journal upto the middle of September, when I create and post the sale journal?

Cheers

Naz

Hi,

For me, i don’t think that asset will be depreciated automatically while posting asset sales.

However, there is a workaround.

In the FA Journal, you can use proposal button which will suggest you the depreciation amount.

On the Proposal form, you can select the date to which the asset should be depreciated.

System will propose the depreciaion amount based on the date you have entered.

After that, you can sell your asset.

Hi,

When I try that, the proposal does not generate anything. If I enter the last day of the month, then a proposal is generated. But if I select a date in the middle of the month, no proposal is generated. Is there a parameter somewhere which controls whether depreciation is calculated for part periods or not?

Cheers
