Upgradation process

Hi,

We have upgraded NAV 2009r2 to NAV 2013r2(Database size 50 GB).

  1. Imported upgrade fob objects and performed transfer Data from 104001 form (sql server 2008 R2).

  2. Technically converted to NAV 2013 by opening the database in NAV 2013 development environment.(sql server 2008 R2) which took almost 3 hours .

  3. Later we took the backup of the database and restored into sql server 2014(as we installed NAV 2013 R2 in another System).

  4. Opened the database from NAV 2013 r2 development environment.

  5. Imported customized objects, compiled and executed NAV-Sync Tenant command from Administration Shell to synchronize NAV and Sql.

As I read in many blogs NAV-Sync cmd takes at least few hours to complete, but in contrast it took just 5 min(sql time out set to 10 hours), which is the concern and I was able to upgrade and open the database in NAV 2013 R2 successfully.

Please share your experiences about NAV-SYNC time or we did anything wrong.

Thanks

The synchronization time depends from the db size but also from the quantity of customizations on table.

If you don’t have many custom fields can be quick even on a quite big database.
