Not fully true: NAV 2009 is using the OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN query hint with SQL Server 2008 (this hint was introduced with SQL 2008, thus not available in SQL 2005).

But generally one should have in mind that SQL 2008 provides several improved features which could be benefitial for NAV: enhanced engine, data compression, backup compression, resource governor, etc.

But those are SQL changes. He asked about NAV changes. For instance if I am running 5.00 there is no specific hot fix for it to run on SQL 2008.
