I successfully installed SQL Server 2005 and during the installation I selected the default instance of SQL, but now I want to delete the instance that has been installed and create a new instance of SQL. Is it possible?

Don’t you mean that you just want to uninstall SQL?
For some reason you can’t completely get rid of SQL Server 2005 by uninstalling it. I’ve had to re-install with a named instance because it kept saying that the default instance already exists, even though I had uninstalled it. You may be able to find a fix for this on one of the public Microsoft SQL Server newsgroups on news.microsoft.com
