Import Inventory

Do you know how to import inventory?

You have to either create a dataport or xmlport to import the data into Item Journal line and post from there.

how can I create a dataport or xmlport?

Go to Object desinger

Click on Dataport → Click on New

Select Dataitem as Iten Journal Line

Click on View Menu–> Select Dataport Fields

In this form select desired fields from table

Save the data[ort with objectid and name

Do you really need a dataport to accomplish this? If you have a complex and very large inventory then maybe. Otherwise just conduct a physical inventory, enter the information into NAV, review and post.

Be sure you have a valid cost on each item before posting.

I agree with babrown. Use the physical inventory, that’s what it is there for. I would even use that when importing files into the system. If you are still going to create (or have your partner create it for you) an import process, you will need to figure out what sets a physical inventory apart from a regular item journal (there are a number of key fields for this) and make sure that you can provide those field values in your file.

Hi,

How can I use ,Universal Excel importer to import data in Physical inventory journal (Item Journal Line table)

What version of NAV are your using ?

From NAV 2009 onwards you have standard data migration in the admin menu, you can check that too.
