Enabling Direct Printing to Local Printers from BC On-Premise

Seeking assistance with enabling direct printing to local printers from BC On-Premise. We aim to replicate the functionality from old NAV. Any insights or experiences with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there Mohamed - the issue with direct printing via the web client is different than the old role-tailored client. In the middle there is a web browser and a lot of browsers don’t allow directly printing from a web application to a printer. With that in mind though there are ways around this:

  1. Utilize e-mail printers in BC: Set Up Email Printers - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

  2. Universal Printers: This is a Microsoft solution where you connect your on-premise printers to Azure and then integrate them with Business Central : Set Up Universal Print Printers - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

  3. Use a 3rd party add-on or ISV: ForNAV offers a print utility that you can utilize (similar to Universal Print). It installs a service on your print server which then syncs the printers up to Business Central.

The three above options do offer a more seamless printing experience.
