AX 2009 report export to Excel 2007

Hi,

I have 7000 pages report to be export in excel. when i am using the print ascii file i can use only .xls. i am not able to use the .xlsx. kindly help me how to export report in excel. I have AX 2009.

Have you tried copying everything from the exported spreadsheet and pasting it into a new excel spreadsheet and saving it then…?

What do you mean by “i am not able to use the .xlsx”? Is it because you get the error “Excel cannot open the file ‘xyz.xlsx’ because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.”?

If this is the problem, the error message is telling you precisely what’s wrong.

Printing to ASCII does what you should expect - creates a plain text file. If you name it something.xlsx, it’s still a plain text file, not an Excel spreadsheet. Nevertheless Excel supports imports from plain text files, of course.
