Windows Authentication in UPAS

Hello In UP2.60.E, the UPAS needs to authenticate in the database with Windows Authentication, as opposed to UP2.60.D or D. But when working off-line, I can’t use Windows Authentication in my computer. I assume this is correct, but in previous versions it was possible… So, can I log on to a database using Windows Authentication when off-line? UP runs okay when I connect to the network. Toni

Install Loopback, it´s a software that simulates a network adapter and an internet connection. You find it in Control Panel/ Add new hardware. Manualy select what new device you whant to install. Network adapter/Microsoft and Loopback. After the installation disable your normal internet connection. /Jacob

But there was no security policy applied prior UPAS 2.60E either. With 2.60E the user is impersonated within UPAS and the rights that were setup there are applied. This can be done only with Windows authentication. Regards Kalman

Yes. However, I think it is still possible for a given user to change the URL and visit another user’s web page, as long as you know his windows login (the user name appears in the main URL to the forms folder). You can prevent this by giving user permissions for certain folders in the users folders of inetpub, but it’s not optimal… Toni Edited by - Toni Lou on 2001 Dec 04 15:12:53
