Why Closing /Opening by default in New Acc Period ?

Hi All ,

When i created the new accounting period - 01/07/2014 to 30/06/2015 and period lenght - 4 / Month. System created the follwing entries.

01/07/2014 Normal 31/10/2014 Open
01/11/2014 Normal 28/02/2015 Open
01/03/2015 Normal 30/06/2015 Open
30/06/2015 Closing 30/06/2015 Stopped
01/07/2015 Opening 01/07/2015 Closed

a) Why the period code is Closing /Opening by default ?

b) why status is Stopped /Closed by default ?

Pls explain the logic behind this?

Throw some light about this options .

The periods are open until closed, the final two are the closing and opening periodis controlled by the year end procedure. These defaults are to add levels of control into the system ultimately.
