Which Features of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Do You Use the Most?

I’m currently evaluating ERP options for our organization and looking into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. I know it offers a wide range of features, but I’d love to hear from actual users:

  • Which specific features or modules do you rely on the most?
  • Are there any tools within Business Central that truly helped streamline your workflow?
  • Any hidden gems or underrated capabilities you’d recommend exploring?

It depends on what you are looking for, Business Central offers a wide range of features like financial management, inventory, sales/purchasing, Warehouse, Manufacturing etc., integration with Microsoft 365 tools like Outlook and Excel. Key workflow streamliners include workflow approvals, Power Automate, Jet Reports, and seamless Excel integration. Configuration packages for data import, account schedules for custom financial reporting, and the “Edit in Excel” feature for quick bulk updates. Intuitive dashboards and built-in AI for forecasting. Overall, it’s a flexible, user-friendly ERP with strong real-world performance.

Business Central has a lot of functionality, including:
Substitute Posting Groups: Allows you to change posting group on documents or journals
Unique company badges can be color coded to help users identify the company they’re working in.
Built in Trial Balance has a Balance At Date feature to display account balances as of a desired point in time
Page Pop Out allows you to open multiple browser windows simultaneously
Filter data and save your parameters as a saved search to quickly access this information as needed
Analysis Mode - Allows you to group and analyze data as desired (similar to Pivot Tables)
Personalize screens so you only see data relevant to you

Business Central has Workflow capability but the workflows are pretty basic. If you have complex workflows, there are several workflow solutions (such as Power Automate) you can leverage to satisfy your business requirements..
