Where to store Length, width and height of items?

Length, width and height of items are sometimes very important to manufacturers.

Besides adding extra fields to the items table, is there an easier way to do this in NAV - ideally numeric fields so calculations can be done.

Thanks

There are already fields available on the “Item Unit of Measure” table for that purpose. They are used to calculate “Cubage”

Do I understand it correct that we have to decide which unit of measure we have use for the length, width and height i.e. centimeters, millimeters or…?

Have a look at item no. LS-81 in Cronus. I find it hard to understand how the cubage on 1 pcs. is 16 when 1 Pallet with 12 pcs. has a cubage on 54. Is there something I misunderstand?

Thanks for your help in advance

Cubage is simply calculated as WLH fields in Item_UoM table, nothing more, and you may only guess what the units are - light years or nanometers --or even PCS [:P]-- besides, there is no programmatic correlation between several lines, calc is done in line context only.

That for Cronus Item LS-81 Item_UoM table entries look illogical… These fields sit there for descriptive purpose and can not be used for serious and trustworthy stock or transportation volume planning, as the data is incomplete.
