what is the use of shipment date & receipt date

Hi folks,

let me know what is the use of the shipment date and the receipt in Transfer order .

I created the trnafer order .

Posting date = 11/07/09

shipment = 10/07/09

receipt date = 09/07/09 ( consider these dates as example)

when we post the transfer order with the option = ship item ledger entry created with posting date

when we post the transfer order with the option = receive item ledger entry created with posting date

because that shipment date is not updating in Item ledger entry , then what is the use of this .

is it just for information purpose only that means when will u receive the materials ?

please guide me.

Well in your example you are telling the system the date, not really sure what you would expect.

However when you create SKU based planning systems these dates are the in and out of the stock, so if you have a sales order in one location the receipt date of the transfer order will meet the shipment date of the sales order, and it continues backwards.

You are aware that you have shipment dates on sales orders and receipt dates on purchase orders - but the posting date is taken when the posting date is different - why did you not ask the question based on these?
