Right, we’re very angry…[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!] What has happened ? Our NSC has announced that 5 employees are leaving their company, for some reasons… They will be working for another NSC. Where we have a problem ? Well, they already knew this BEFORE they started the implementation of Navision at our company. So we put our trust in them, but they have damaged our trust. We don’t want to switch to the new company… so we have to invest a lot of time again (!) in finding a new partner… So we’re angry only on the persons who have been silent to us… Still, Navision will be implemented, but maybe now some months later. My boss was furious (this is just a little impression)… My trust is in Navision and its possibilities, so I said to my boss that he should go on implementing Navision. As I am 1 of the persons who can (and in the near future will) advise him on this matter, I will continue trust our new partner. Don’t worry, I’ll keep you informed on the rest of this story
Arno, can’t you find out where these people are going? Maybe you can go with them, so you won’t lose the knowledge built up…
I also would consider to follow the persons that have all the knowledge about your implementation - if you are content with their services until today. You (and your boss) should only have a problem with your current NSC, but not with the people that will leave that NSC. You do not know wether they have been free to provide you with that information. The only one respnsible for telling that is the NSC itself.
I had a similar thing happen. It can happen for various reasons: financial trouble with the NSC, the employees think they want to start their own consulting busines, etc… I can understand your boss is upset, and you have an embarrassing situation on your hands. But, from what I have seen in the consulting world, this is pretty common. I would agree with the first two people. Assuming you like the people that are leaving, you may want to stay with them - even if its for just part of your installation. Just make sure you make your NSC aware you are doing this. It will help prevent them from being too angry as well. All is not lost…
On the other hand, in most cases when a group of employees leave together, the NSC is the last to know. They make their plans in secret and when they are ready to leave, it’s too late for the NSC to do anything. Should it be the employees that are leaving that you are upset with? I have no idea of the details here, but if they are starting/going to another NSC, you may be a pawn. They knew if you started with them, you would have to continue with them and change to their new NSC. Depending on how far down the process you are, you might have the opportunity to start your NSC Selection from the beginning. In either circumstance…Good Luck.
If NSC was aware that the guys are leaving and they have made no alternate arrangement to take care of your project. It is not fair. If the current NSC has not provided any alternatives to you even now, you should walk with the employees to new NSC. Otherwise if the current NSC is ready to replace the resources, it should be OK with you. The NSC should bear the cost of employees leaving their organization and not the client. Regards, Anuj
Why did I leave the NSC I used to work for. Simply being underpaid and seeing my boss in a new Hugo Boss suit almost everyday.
