Vendor Card issue; 'The record in table Contact already exists.' error

I am currently having an issue whenever I try to create a new Vendor Card. It pops up with the following error message next to the Vendor No. box:
‘The record in table Contact already exists. Identification fields and values: No.=‘MPCO-00092’’
The vendor number is normally automatically generated whenever I create a new vendor, but since this error popped up the vendor number box stays blank and ask to refresh the page because of the error.

Does anyone know what might be causing this/where to start troubleshooting this issue?

I’ve solved this issue now. You need to search ‘No. Series’ and edit the contact line such that the ‘last no. used’ column actually matches the last contact number used. You can search contacts to check this
