Using Analysis Mode in BC

Hey BC users, do you know of any way to add additional fields to an analysis mode when its not available from the list provided?

Hi Mary. I am doing some research. In the meantime, check out this article I found from Microsoft Learn: Analyze list page and query data using data analysis - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

I also found this note in a blog “It’s important to note that analysis mode is limited to the fields available on the current page. For example, if you wanted to group data by ‘Salesperson,’ you would be unable to do so unless that field is present on the page being analyzed.” About Analysis Mode for Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Cosmos

Hi Mary, like Bobby mentioned, at this moment it is only possible to use fields that are available in the list (or can be made visible).
In 2024 release wave 2 (public preview October 2024) Copilot can draft analysis tabs using all fields from the list page, including columns that might be hidden. See: Experience enhancements to analysis assist with Copilot | Microsoft Learn

Hi Mary - Consider using the ‘Profile (Role)’ and ‘Customize Pages’ to add table fields that are available for that list. From the new tab that opens, navigate to the particular list, and use ‘+ Fields’. This will let you expose appropriate & available fields for the list view, making them visible in analysis view. Helpful if you or the users don’t know what fields are possible to use and also avoid using fields that wouldn’t be relevant in your environment.

If you cant add the fields with Personalize (Settings-> Personalize) you might need to talk to your Partner to add the fields missing through a page extension.
After that you can pick them up in adhoc analysis.

Thanks. this helps!

I appreciate this.
