Hi Trm,
Well Abbyy Finereader is “just” another scanning and OCR product as I see it. And since it’s able to communicate via XML files then you should not really have any problem integrating it with Navision. But I don’t really have any experince with it.
Erik, it’s not quite so… [;)]
I don’t have experience with FineReader in context to NAV, so I didn’t post anything to this thread, but what I DO know, is that when it appeared 10 (15?) years ago, it was the best OCR. It is of Russian origin, and uses unique recognition algorithms, very fast & capable to “learning”. (Back then I taught it to “read” scanned book printed in 19 century in German Old Gothic font in one weekend). It worked fast even then on 386 CPU - 1 page in 3-5 seconds. Rumours were, that after USSR collapse some smart guys happened to make a commercial product from Russian military technology - soviet spy sattelite’s lenses weren’t very good, so they needed really GOOD recognition software to process the images, and they made it.
Hi Modris,
Thank you, that was actually a very good story!
