Hi all, The default functionality provided for user portal is related to sales and product design. Can we have the following functionalities also supported by user portal: - 1) Manufacturing - Production orders - Consumption journal - Output journal 2) Inventory - Item journals - Transfer orders If yes, what kind of effort estimate it might require? Thanks in advance. Rohit
Any views?
From my experience working with User Portals and adding user portal functionality to Jobs, Human Resources etc its a lot of effort although not very complex. All new areas that are not covered i.e Items, Production Orders will require new dataport functionality set up to pass data between the User Portal and the User Portal Application Server, every screen that you require on the User portal will need to be created from scratch. Thats just to get the basics, if you want to start then doing anything clever with Filters or updating information from User Portals back into Navision then it starts getting interesting. We were estimating 1 day per screen in User Portals and a couple of days for each dataport. It seemed like a lot of expense and effort for not much. Then if you want to tailor the CSS to suit your customers site …
Yes, it is possible to integrate Manufacturing and Inventory - in a technical point of view. It is nessasary to develop new dataports and XSL-files, to configure your user portal. You need a lot of expierence to handle that. Ask a Navision developer or your NSC
Has anyone developed any functionality that allows the salesperson to lookup history (i.e. posted invoices and a/r balances) through user portal? If so, would you be willing to talk about offering it and how much it would cost? Thanks
