As I explained I am trying to learn Nav 2009. Which should be asy given the quick respnse I had to my previous question.
I am trying to modify / Create a page by folowing the help documentation.
First when I try to modify a page I can’t see any pages in the objevt designer to modify (Yes I have pressed the page button).
Next I tried to create a new page , This seem to work fine but when I try to save the page I get a message to say I am not authorised to this function speak to your system administrator.
When I try to modify sales cues I get the same message.
Is there any way I can authorise myself to this function or do I have a license problem ?
I am using the version of nav 2009 which I have downloaded from this site.
If I have a license problem is there any way to download a version which will allow me to develope even in a limited context ?
I think there was a version of nav 5 which allowed you to modidify a limited number of pages and create new ones.
NAV installation files are always the same - on product CD, here (and other possible sites) in Downloads, even MS PartnerSource. And, together with it you get license key file Cronus.flf, which is
Demonstration License Key (on the Dynamics NAV Product CD via Microsoft or Microsoft Dynamics NAV Partner) Offers possibilities for demonstrating and running Microsoft Dynamics NAV including add-on solutions (restrictions apply). Offers possibilities for limited customization of Microsoft Dynamics NAV
As MS says, it only Offers possibilities for limited customization…
Ooops… Such doesn’t exist, and it has been a big problem for years to begining programmers or people like you, who want to learn NAV programming. MS politics are, that only Partner companies can get full Developer license (some time ago everybody, who passed Dev exams, got his personal Dev license, but it has gone now, AND - to be capable to pass the exam, you should somehow learn and practice, so even then you neded actually to be a Partner employee or pay BIG BUCKS for courses at Training Partner, who temporarily gave you Training Dev License, expiring in month or even less)
Only workaround - as client you can buy additional Developer granules, there are two of them, one restrictive to your own objects, the other gives almost full access, but they are VERY expensive + you need some additional Object Designer (Tables, Forms etc) granules, too.
