Temporary table and license

If I create a new table just to use it as temporary, I can use a number out of the customer license. Does anybody know if Microsoft would change this possibility in the near future (eg in the 4.0 version)? Thanks Marco

I’m not sure but I think that you can use any table as temporary, even if you don’t have a license for it. So if you work for an NSC, you can create the new table in any number and use it as temporary storage even if the customer has not bought that table number for his license. But I am not completely sure…

For the customer to access any table, it must be in their license (and security profile). For an NSC employee to access any table, it must be in their license (and security profile). Note that generally these licenses generally have all granuales and the ability to create any objects numbered 50,000 - 99,999. This is something that I wouldn’t see Microsoft changing as it seems consistant (Or is that a reason for them to change?)

Sorry, but I think you didn’t understand. Suppose the customer have the range 50000…50009. Then if you create (with the NSC license) the table 80000 and you use it in a report as temporary table, you have not any problem also with the customer license. My question was about the fact that I’ve never understood if this is a “bug” in the license or if it was correct and if anyone knows if this will change in the future. Thanks, Marco

Marco, I thought you were asking IF you can use a non-licensed table as temporary. I now understand that you already know that you CAN in fact do it. As for that possibility changing in the future, who can know for sure? [?] [B)]
