Strategy: Match packing quantity

Hi everyone,

according to Microsoft Warehouse management implementation guide for Dynamics AX 2012 R3, one strategy related to the “pick” function is defined as “Warehouse management searched for locations that either match or are closest to the Packing quantity that is specified on the load line”.

anyone knows what means “closest to”?

It is my understanding that we are talking about quantity not necessarily distance. It will try to find a location in the warehouse that has exactly the pic quality required. From there I’m a little cloudy but I believe it will look for two locations that add up to the same amount.
