SQL 2014 Enterprise Edition x SQL 2014 Standart Edition

Good staff late!

In April/15 will begin testing for migration of our ERP Dynamics AX 2009 to 2012 version.

Today we have the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP3) - 10.50.6000.34 (X64).

We have a server with 2 processors octacore, totaling 16 cores.

Because of the new license value SQl 2014, we think that making the Standard version rather than the Enterprise.

What would it mean in terms of this limitations Standard version in relation to the Enterprise?

hugs,

Mateus

I won’t list the limitations of Standard SQL vs Enterprise SQL which are not related to AX. You can get that here:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/cc645993.aspx

I can only think of one area where standard SQL cannot support some functionality of AX. On the Role centers, there are some web parts which are Power View reports that connect to a SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) database. For some reason that I don’t understand, you need SSRS BI or Enterprise edition for that to work, which I guess means you need to get SQL BI or Enterprise edition.

This is not documented anywhere that I’ve seen in terms of AX, but if you search ‘Power view’ on the link above you can see it.

So apart from all the SQL reasons (like the high availability stuff), how important are the pretty charts on the role centers?

Thanks for the feedback.
We are concerned with the performance.
Graphics ever use QlikView as our BI.
I ask about the difference in performance itself, if not, no problem, we will continue with the 2008 Enterprise.
