Speed of printing Zebra Barcode Labels

I am printing barcode (3 of 9) labels from Navision 3.01B, using a Seagull Windows driver, for a Zebra 2746. The printer is pausing for about 3 seconds between each label print, which means that to print 10 labels (1 spoolfile, of 10 pages), takes about 1 minute! Much to slow. Does anyone know what is causing the pause between the labels - The way the report is coded in Navision, the speed of the driving PC, the processing speed of the printer, or something else? Many Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy, please try to print the 10 labels from word. if the problem persists, then it is not a problem within Navision. May be the printer driver or some setup? br Josef Metz

Unsupported graphics and fonts that are sent to the printer can cause it to run slow.

Andy, We use a Zebra DA402 labelprinter to print labels. To print the labels i created a report in Naviosion that creates a txt-file containing printer codes (zpl=zebra printer language). After the file is created the report uses the “shell” command to copy the txt-file to lpt1. It works fine and fast. You can find whitepapers of zpl-commands on the zebra website. Kind regards, Marcel

Hi! We had these problems, too (Z105, Z150, Z170). We fixed it that way: - Set the spooler-settings to “Print after last page was spooled” - Configure the right “Print Options”, especially the “Print Speed” and “Slew Speed” (to slow is as bad as too fast - try it) - Connect the printer via a 100Mbit printserver-box (if not directly) In our case it solved the problem. Hope this could help … Regards,

Thanks for the help Jorg. This has helped me out no end with my barcode label printing. Had been struggling with a similar problem but after following your instructions it seems to be working…well for the time being anyway!

Thanks

When you print Labels on Zebra you do not need to send each label separately – just send label and number of labels you need to print. This is the fastest way and no spooling.
