SMTP Error - 0x80040212


Whenever I’m sending the emails using SMTP functionality in nav, we got the following error

The SMTP mail has returned the following error:
(0x800140212): The transport lost its connection to server

I have checked in forums about this,but i didn’t get any solution for exch2010 server

Have you check the SMTP setup?

Are you attaching any attachment while sending mail ??

We got this error some times, not all the times

This is not really a NAV error. The error comes from SMTP and is typically because of a wrongly configured or malfunctioning SMTP server. You should contact the people who have configured the SMTP server with this error.

As suggested by Erik .Kindly check configuration for SMTP.


Did you try to follow my lead and what was the solution?

Yes, this error not belongs too NAV, relates to Exchange server configuration, which results the changes needs to be done at exchange server, and we are not receiving this error not ion a regular basis.


Few times i too came across this error.As you said Exchange server is the culprit over here.

Reason behind this might be…your Exchange server may not allowing to send mails to the Email-Id that are in defferent domain.
