On a transfer, one item had a quantity of 2.
Instead of actually using 1 line with the qty of 2, it was keyed on 2 lines with a qty of 1.
They were successful at shipping the transfer.
We cannot find a way to do the receiving now. Item arrival has been tried using 2 lines with a qty of 1 as well as 1 line with a qty of 2. The error is “No lines with this item exist in the journal”. On the transfer, all lines still show that the qty is Receive Remain. Also have tried to do the Posting->Receive from the transfer itself. That gives a different error regarding location something (I assume that is because there is no default location set up (we use random).
Cannot seem to “unship” the way you can “unpick” either.
How can we resolve?
Thank you
John
Is the transit warehouse setup with locations and default locations specified? What is the exact message when trying to receive directly from the transfer order?
The transit warehouse is setup with a bulk location only.
The message is “Line No 1.00 - Inventory dimension Location is a primary input/output dimension and must consequently be specified.”
The line no 1 is interesting as it is not actually the line of the doubled item number.
As for the warehouse that the items were transferred to, they use random locations so the is no default for the items.
The transit warehouse they were shipped into has to have a default location, otherwise the receipt does not know where it is taking it from in the transit warehouse, so it tells you the message you have. That said it could also be another issue, but it sounds as though you know to define the location to book it into at the destination warehouse, you just have not told AX the location to get it from. Set this as the default location on the intransit warehouse and try. I could not see your image unfortunately.
Off of the transit warehouses have a bulk location we named “Bulk”, original name right?
All transactions until now have been successful. The only difference I see on this one is the fact that they did not use 1 line to key the qty of 2. We typically use the item arrival, assign the location there and post… no errors. This one, not so much.
I do think the lack of a default location for the inventory warehouse is why we cannot get further doing it straight from the transfer form.
You actually cannot process a transfer order without the default location set on the in-transit warehouse. So you are saying bulk is not defined as the default location on the in-transit warehouse, why not set it and try to receive the transfer order?
Secondly of course are there any modifications in the area of transfer orders?
OK, looked at the in-transit warehouse. It is set up with a default warehouse. That makes sense as you mentioned that it will not work unless it has been (all others until now have worked).
On the modifications, we are not aware of nor see any. Is that a guarantee… unfortunately no.
So let me ask you, have you processed item arrivals where the same item number was on 2 separate lines?
I know that when we had purchase orders where the sku was on the same po twice, we had to consolidate it to one line before it would let us receive them.
Thought it might be the same type of issue.
I believe there is no issue, but let me test it. AX2009 is all I can test it on however.
Okay simplest baseline test is always the easiest to establish a foundation. I create a purchase order with two lines identical, went into the arrival journal, set it to the purchase order, created the lines and there were two, booked them in. Therefore you can receive in the same item on multiple lines on the same purchase order. Your setup however I am sure is more complex, but without knowing your configurations it is difficult to reproduce because of the potential options.
