Shared Master Data

Dear All

I know that we can share CoA.

My question is can we share Vendor, Customer, Item and Fixed Asset master data for all legal entities.

Regards

Yes you can create virtualised tables, but you need to plan it very carefully, because the customer is not one table as an example, and the credit limit is for the company currency not the customer, so if your companies have different currencies…

What is the exact requirement of sharing the master data as Vendor, Customer, Item and Fixed Asset are company specific???

Can you explain the exact requirement??

You can shared any data by setting a property on the Data Table which is SaveDataPerCompany to NO.

Thanks for the reply

My concern is in CoA we can share entire Chart of account without any customization

can we do the same for all master data without any customization etc

Is data sharing is possible the way we shared chart of account without any customization and technical knowledge.

Yes see my previous comment. However there are of course pitfalls to sharing this sort of data.

i dont think the only way to share the data across entities is to make the property on the Table which is SaveDataPerCompany to NO.

Not sure if you are saying it is the only way or not, but AX2012 still has virtualised companies and you can create virtual table collections etc. and this will share data across companies.

Hi Ali,

Yes, you can share Vendor, Customer, Item and Fixed Asset using Virtual Company setup.
