Set up could not locate support set up files

I have uninstalled Ax 2012 from a machine (all components) using remove feature in Setup.exe.

I also delted all folders created by set up in c drive and d drive.

Now i am trying to install ax 2012 again but when i try to run setup.exe, i am recceiving error: “could not locate support set up files”.

Please help with suggestions on how this can be resolved. Thanks!

Hi,

From error it looks like problem with your CONTENT within AX 2012 setup folder. It seems that some files are missing from AX 2012 setup folder.

Looks like the set up folder is complete in content.

I copied the “Setup support” from another ax 2012 installation to this machine at following location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60

Now i am able to proceed with installation but getting another error. This error is strange as AX set up is able to install the components and at the end its throwing this error. PFB the screen shot of error.

i have again started with a fresh installation… after the page with license terms, on clicking next, ax set up tried to update set up support files. But at the end its throwing error. Following is log from Setuppreplog file: HELP PLEASE!

Seems like i have been able to resolve this by following below steps:

• Uninstall all AX 2012 components using “Remove components” selection while running setup.exe

• Deleted following entries from Regedit • Hkey_local_machine → Softwares → Microsoft → Dynamics • Hkey_current_user → Softwares → Microsoft → Dynamics

• Deleted folders from C:\ Program files and C:\program files (x86) • Restarted the machine.

Copied Setup Support folder from Installables (available in MSI folder) to C drive, and bazinga!!! it worked.

Not sure if this is the perfect way to handle this error, but nevertheless it saved me a day.

however, have you been able to install the reporting extensions component afterwards?

everytime i run the component setup for reporting extensions, the installation is completed successfuly, but the report summary shows no components were installed!.

have you experiences a similar issue?

I didnt received such error on Reporting Extensions.

Can u just try to deploy the reports even if the summary says no components installed?
