Security Permission For User Group

Dear All,

We have two server, one is validation and other is DEV server.

I need to modify the some security permission for a user group in DEV server and then i need to import it in VAL server.

Is it a straight away procedure?? My concern is, in VAL server there may be other additional permission given.

Once i import ASG file (From DEV) in VAL server, the permissions of VAL will be overridden by DEV server permission??

Which is the best way to do changes for a user group in DEV server and use the same permissions in VAL/ Production server??

Please help me out…

Do you already have the security groups defined in both environments?

When you export a role you can either import this into an existing role, or create a new role and import it into a new role so that the permission changes take place.

When you import a role into another role, this WILL overwrite permissions.

Yes, i have security groups defined in both environment.

I planned to take ASG file from VAL server and import it in DEV env. Then after i will make changes in DEV and re import same ASG in DEV.

Will this work without any issues?? Should i take care of anything before doing this??

Hi Rajendhra,

Take the backup of security permissions of existing group in production server of particular group and import the new permissions to override the existing. But make sure that you are importing the group which you have taken the backup and check the security permissions. Mostly there will be no problem and in the worst case if any problem comes have to revert back.
