Same End Item - Different Part Consumption

Hi All,

I was wondering if it is possible to have an end item that selects the an appropriate BoM based on stock levels?

Example:

On a sales order we have a requirement to ship a configured part to a customer, this is normally made up of a vanilla part and some customer specific configuration.

We also hold some customer owned vanilla parts (these are a different part number to our standard vanilla part) I would like to have the system validate stock levels of the BoM listed part, but if these are not available suggest using the customer owned part instead

Is this possible, or do we need to continue try and remember to check for the other part number?

You cannot do that as standard I am afraid.

You could attach a sub-BOM to the sales line and run the explosion and see where the stock is then and change if zero or low, but to be honest if it is one part checking is as easy - or a modification to display a message to remind you to check!
