We are currently using Financial 2.5 and have hired our first outside salesman. Besides setting my salesman up as a location, does anyone have an easy way for me to keep track of his inventory. Thank you.
Sometimes it is easier to post Sales Shipment when you ship smth to him. And Credit memo if he returns goods. But it depends on business you are in.
I think a seperate location and old fashioned journals is easiest. If you are dealing with commission, I’d also recommend using a dimension code for actual sales in addition to the salesperson code. As the commission functionality is a bit weak, a dimension analysis will give you another angle from the g/l.
The Salespersons code is available in item journal/item trasfer journal as well as the item ledger entries. This should allow you to track by salesperson.

There are no dimensions on 2.5… it’s an attain feature.
Hello We use 2.5 and use journals to transfer between locations. That’s the theory, the practice is getting the Sales People to tell us what to transfer. Note we also use this for trade shows, so instore Sales people don’t tell a customer an item is in stock and it’s at a tradeshow. I’ve added a flow field to the Item lookup screen so thay can see what’s at a trade show. Michael
