Hi all, It is possible to manually reserve the full stock qty entered in a blanket order in AX 2009? The reserve option is grayed out…
I need to reverve the full qty in advance when I confirm the blanket order, is this possible??

Hi,
Did you released the Blanket order? If not, First you enter the entire Quantity (Say for example: 200 Qty) in the Quantity (TAB) of the Order line and you release order by clicking Functions > Create release order.
it will create one more Order with the Reference of Blanket order. Go to newly created order, then you can do the Reservation.

You cannot reserve against a blanket as it is only the release order that is a full committment, then the demand, if reservation is set, will reserve against the order. Why do you want to reserve a blanket order?
Because is a kind of contract between the 2 parties involved and they want to reserve the stock from the beginning and commit it to the customer in advance, and then create multiple sales orders to release the stock.
Infact, a blanket order doesn’t even create inventory transactions. So, no chance of reserving the items.
why cant you create a SO directly and consider that is an agreement. You can reserve your stock against this. As and when you receive the requested delivery date from the customer split the Quantity in the SOline and confirm the delivery date for the same.
May not be a procedural way but just a little thought process

The agreement is the contract, it does not need to “reserve” stock unless your committment is to always have it in stock 100% of the time, then use a separate warehouse for this.
