Requisition Worksheet - Definition of the Starting Date (Order Date)

When a user runs the Calculate Plan functionality from the Requistion Worksheet, there is a field called Starting Date (or Order Date) that appears on the Options tab.

I have a client who is looking for the exact definition of the Starting Date field.

-All Items are set to Lot-for-Lot, Include Inventory, and have a Replenishment system of Purchase.

What is the impact of that date? What logic surrounds it?

I have yet to see where the Starting Date does anything. Help says that it is the date to be used for new Orders, yet NAV will set date fields equal to the Shipment Date on the Sales Order, or backdate according to how the system needs to meet demand.

Order Date Field#### The Calculate Plan - Req. Wksh. Batch Job

Enter the date to be used for any new orders. The program uses this date when it evaluates inventory. If inventory is below the reorder point, the replenishment order is scheduled forward from this date.

that what is stated in help. in easy words, after you run the calculate plan, and the worksheet will create orders - system will use this date as the basis calculation of “Order Date”.

if your item reordering policy = lot for lot, and reordering cycle is 1W. when you put 010109 on Order Date, the order proposal will have an order date 010709.
