Potential client has an operation in Europe that needs to be connected to the Canadian Head Office. Is the daily database replication possible since they are trying to avoid continuous connection due to the Internet/phone cost in Europe. Any other suggestions?

My suggestion is to get the European office or offices an always-on high-speed internet connection with some sort of wide area network to connect the two offices. This would have a lot of other advantages beyond making the Navision setup work better. Yeah, I know I just suggested that they do the one thing they are trying to avoid doing. Sorry about that, but this is MY suggestion. You make it sound like they are still using dial-up internet access. Dial-up internet access is SOOOOOO 20th century! 
One problem with any form of replication in this case would be that both offices would be making changes to their respective databases at the same time. So it isn’t enough simply to do a backup and restore routine twice a day. ------- Tim Horrigan horrigan@aol.com
If there are only one reason - money, I don’t think that they will save it by using replication. Replication mostly are more expensive than on line solutions. Costs covers: On-line: soft/hardware of terminal, connections costs; Replication: replication software, connections costs (N times lower, depending on remote users count), Administrator salary; Then you should use replication: 1.If departments are independent financial units. 2.If departments are doing more than 40 % of work. 3.If departments needs high perfomance. 4.If information refresh isn’t very important. This is not the end. You should do desired data flow analysis. Sometimes is very hard to achieve desired goal, if data flow have a lot of data collisions. If you think that replication is Setup.exe file and all that you should do it run it, YOU ARE WRONG !!! Replication covers a lot of challenges.
