Replan Production Orders

Hi,

I’m in the middle of implementing Dynamics-NAV 4.2 and am having a slight problem with production orders, specifically the ‘Replan’ function from the production order card.

My understanding of this is, the function will create seperate production orders for all sub-assemblies on the production order.

However, it is not doing this for me and was wondering if anybody has come accross this before. My initial thought was that because we are not using any ‘routings’, that the routine thinks there is nothing to replan!

Many Thanks

Hi,

It doesnt work that way, Replan function on replans your orders with regards to delivery and time.

You need to use the - Planning, when you click on the order button select planning and then from the planning worksheet select functions & caclulate plan. this will calculate the MRP and suggest actions for the fullfilling the MRP eg. purchase / production order and then when you click make orders the system will create purchase orders or production order.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that I think Im going in the right direction. However, I will try and explain the problem a little clearer to see if what im asking can be done in Navision without any code.

The company are a high tec make-to-order specialist with 6 bom levels. Firstly I try to run the order planning this will list any sales order demand and recommend i create a production order for the sales order.

So then I create the produciton order.

When i run the order planning worksheet again, the production order demand gets highlighted, stock outs etc, but sadly the system is not suggesting the creation of any more production orders. I would have thought that all the sub assemblies from the main production order would need to be catered for.

Has anyone come across this before?

What is the Replenishment system for the sub-assemblies?

The replenishment system for the sub assemblies is Prod. Order. Im sure it will be some simlpe setup option somewhere (or i hope!)

And what is the reordering policy of the sub component Production Orders.

Also when you accept the demand of the first level of demand what are you creating them as?

You also say “When i run the order planning worksheet again, the production order demand gets highlighted, stock outs etc, but sadly the system is not suggesting the creation of any more production orders” where are you seeing this evidence, in the planning worksheet?

Andrew,

Are you working with Released Production Orders?

Form the Order Card, Functions, have you tried to use the Refresh option?

We run a very similar scenario with 4.00.

Hi Andrew,

Try & ‘estimate’ the production order via the ‘update’ button & estimation option beforehand; in a previous context, this triggered the inferior levels of the item to ‘show’ themselves.

Let us know.

Monty

Andrew,

Have a look at the Manufacturing Policy under the Replenishment Tab of the Item Card. If the sub-assemblies are set up as Make to Stock then there will be no action on the Production Order for them since it will be assuming you will pick them out of stock. If they are set up as Make to Order then the Production Order will show the Sub assemblies as extra lines on the Production Header.
