Hi,
how can i simulate this scenario in F&O? I have an item that has a PO UOM in lbs. We know the weight per cubic inch of each item.So for instance, we can order 10 units of a raw material of 10’’ x 20’’ at 2$ /lbs.
tks
To solve this problem, we will first create a Product Master, in this example we have created a product called “Testing Inter Class Category”, in which Purchase unit in lbs . and Inventory units are in cu.in.
To match the question specification, I have created a Product Variant for this particular product number (000092) and give a size which is 10”x20”x1”. In the question it only specifies 10”x20”, however since the questions refereeing the unit, which is in cu.in, I have assumed the third dimension which 1” to make the unit cu.In. Otherwise, two dimensions will only result in Sq Inches. See the screen shot of variant.
Now go to unit conversion tab – navigation Organization administration – Units – Units Conversion. Select Inter Class Conversion – Provide conversion details and select the associated product. See details on the screen shot below. Conversion factor is 1cu.in = 0.0005 lbs. Calculation details are below:
Questions indicates that 10 units are equal to one pounds (lbs.). So when we order 10 quantities the weight will be 1 pounds.
Conversion – 10”x20”1” = 200 cu.in x 10 = 2000 cu.in = 1 lbs.
To explain this: one unit block is 200 cu.in when you multiply with 10 it will be 2000 cu.in which is equal to 1lbs.
So, 2000 cu.in = 1lbs. hence – 1cu.in = 1/2000 = 0.0005lbs.
Now, we will create a Purchase order for one pound of quantity. See screen shot for details.
Now, locate the on-hand inventory of this item and see it shows as 2000 cu.in for the block is stored due to above purchase order. See screen shot below for details.
Hope this answer your question.
Thanks,
