Is the project management module that is available in F&O the same as the one in BC? The online documentation of BC seems to imply that this is a module so is this something that needs to be “turned on” or is it part of the OOTB BC?
You can be sure of one thing, Project Management is in No way the same as is Finance And Operations (AX) - In NAV 201X/ 365 BC it is called Jobs, and mainly linked to items/resources and F&O is more into “operations”. So in short, yes there is a “project management” module in BC - but not likely what you need depending of your business requirements.
You could try go google for a Youtube presentation or a powerpoint from Microsoft.
You would probably have to contact a 365BC Partner to get a demo and a proof of concept in order to identify the match of your requirements.
Thanks and I assume the answer to my next question is No but have learned the hard way during our ERP project to ask, ask, ask…The module that is in F&O cannot be made available in BC? Trying to get a handle of both terminology and architecture; the modules in specific applications are unique to the application, meaning what is available in F&O is specific to F&O etc. Also is seems like some applications can be connected and some can’t to BC, am told that Sales can but PSA cannot at this time.
365 F&O, Sales etc. are totally different applications compared to 365 Business Central - So you are right the answer is NO, you cannot and will probably never be able to run the project mdule from 365 in a 365 BC.
In my opinion Microsoft has made it VERY difficult to customers to understand what-is-what because 365 is also Office and CRM and more, aon nd they should really change the naming because it is very confusing.
If a core business is based upon project management then a demo of both systems should be done/seen, and then take a closer look the Accounting processes afterwards.
Normally we say that 365 BC is for trade companies and 365 is for manufactoring companies but that is generally considered as a crazy simplification
As Palle writes then the Dynamics 365 is complicated, even to those of us working with it.

D365 Sales is currently the only other D365 product which can be integrated with Business Central, at least OOTB, except PowerBI, PowerApps etc.
