I run a management consultancy firm that focuses on MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium sized Enterprises). We basically look to transform these firms into super performers by giving them advisory services in the areas of strategy, projects, operations and technology.

A common requirement across these clients is that we assist them to source suitable information systems to manage their businesses and finances. The biggest trouble is that majority of the solutions in the market are out of their reach price-wise. I have advised a number of clients in the past to implement Navision.

I am now looking to see if I can get two standard Microsoft Dynamic solutions that address my two main categories of clients:

  • Businesses that revolve around files (doctor practices, dental practices, law firms)
  • Businesses that revolve around projects (contractors, architects, engineers, auditors, consultants)

The basic model is to have 5 concurrent users that address the areas of:

    1. Procurement/Purchasing, Stores and Accounts Payable
    2. Sales and Accounts Receivable
    3. Finance (Cash Book, GL and Reporting)
    4. Projects or Client Files (as the case may be)
    5. Administration and Approvals for the above

Does anyone have an integrated solution that can address either one of these needs (File-Centric or Project-Centric) based on Microsoft Dynamics that falls within a price range of 3,500 to 5,000 dollars from a total license and module perspective?

If you do, the volumes will be able to provide relatively good business given we are talking of a client base of between 200 and 400.

after a few inquiries i have come to realize that your budget is very low…getting a system like Navision with such budget…i dont think its possible. Because just a single user license cost aprox $ 1625. And implementing such a system, wont cost less than $ 30,000. I gave your number to a friend of mine…called Ole. He is the managing director Vega. He will call you.

Another alternative is…why dont you just out source the whole thing to a third party…say Linktech…and we just develop an inhouse system for you.

We have very competent programmers…who can programme in a number of languages and work with different DBMSs. We can develop the system with you step by step until you have a fully functioning system that supports your client needs.

Thanks for your response. My understanding is that a Navision user license (BRL) is about 410 dollars. I also find an implementation cost of USD 30,000 overpriced for an SME with 5 concurrent users (though my indicative budget above did not include the implementation cost)

The clients specifically want a tried and tested off the shelf with possibilities of add-ons not a bespoke solution.

Anyone else on the forum that has a solution?
