i am using the project module and for one of my project i want to make the production order, but it was showing the following error:
Bills of materials are not used with item 10201001.
when i checked on the Release product for for this item, under Engineer Section, Formula Planning, Formula is defined. If i change it to BOM then it is working fine.
I am also using the production module from a long back, if i change it from formula to BOM will it make any effect on my production module.
My suggestion would be that formulas in projects is a limitation due to the history of the product, but you need to ask Microsoft why and get clarity that it is a restriction in whatever version you are on.
This is because you are choosing the ‘formula’ type item for a production order. Batch order should have been used instead which is not supported for Projects yet as per my knowledge.
Changing of type is not suggested as these products will have different structure and outcomes, more over both are used for different manufacturing industries.
To unblock the situation, as a work around solution if you want to use it then I would suggest you to check for Co/By-products existence for this formula item which will have the cost impact on the production.
