Preventing the system giving a discount on a discount!

Hi

I am at the stage of setting up some sample customer trade agreements. My understanding is that a customer can be part of a line level discount group (i.e. 40% of suppliers X Y and Z) and also have some specific sales prices attached to him alone (i.e. item 01 will cost him €50). However when I set this up the system retrieves the price €50 AND also gives the customer the discount that is in his group’s trade agreement on top of this. This means that the customer gets a discount off the discount.

Example: Item AX01 retail price is 100

Customer sales price trade agreement gives a price of €50 (i.e. 50% off) item AX01

When I go to sell this part to the customer the sales order line item tells me the final price is 30 (i.e. 50 - 40% = 30)

Can anyone tell me how I can stop the system giving this double discount and simple take the best discount available to the customer.

Thanks

As standard you cannot.

The system will apply all of the potential configurations after finding the base price. If a customer ALWAYS gets 40% and they get a special price, then they get 40% off the special price. If you do not want them to get 40% on the special price you need to set a discount up for the price combination that is not 40, perhaps 0? You would need to modify it to achieve this, but think very carefully about it because of the possible combinations and restrictions - at the moment you are telling the system to set a specific price AND for suppliers they ALWAYS get 40% so it is doing what you have said - if the 40% is not valid on a specific customer/item price is it on an item group customer group combination or customer group/all items combination etc.

The line discount activate can remove, for example, the line level discount group for suppliers (all items I presume) but then it will never trigger.

Thank you for that reply. I am somewhat confused - isn’t the “FIND NEXT” checkbox meant to signal whether the system should simply take the price in the trade agreement (i.e. a table entry for a special price on one product) or proceed to look to see if the customer has any further discounts that would decrease the price.

I thought by unchecking this box on my special price item the higher level discount would not kick in.

Any clarification would be great.

P.S. Do you know of any basic training materials on-line that would help me learn more (free materials not courses)

Hi Will,

There is this basic training material - http://www.dynamicsaxtraining.com/

Best wishes,

The find next in the sales price would stop the search for another sales price, it does not stop the search for a line discount or a multi discount or a total discount.
