Need to have a PowerAutomate flow trigger when a Warehouse Shipment Header record is changed to a released status. Was hoping to use the “When a record is changed (v3)” event in PowerAutomate tied to a custom API then check to see if the status is Released and then perform the logic I need to perform. My developer put together an API page, but I’m not able to access it through that trigger. I can see it with Get Record (V3). Any ideas what’s wrong or some suggestions on where to look for additional information for sorting this out?
Ran into this myself a while back. That trigger runs on BC webhooks, so it only shows API pages that support webhooks. Get record doesn’t have that restriction, which is why you can see the page there and not in the trigger.
A few things to check on the API page:
- ChangeTrackingAllowed = true (this one is usually the culprit)
- ODataKeyFields = SystemId
- The source table can’t be temporary
Also, in the trigger, change the API category dropdown from the default v2.0 to your custom publisher/group/version (something like contoso/warehouse/v1.0). Your page won’t show up in the table list until you do. If it still doesn’t appear after the extension is published, delete and re-add the connection. The connector caches the API list.
Once it’s showing, the flow is pretty simple:
When a record is changed (V3)
→ Get record (V3) using the id from the trigger
→ Condition: status = Released
yes → your logic
no → terminate
Heads up: it fires on any change to the shipment, not only the release. So if someone edits a shipment that’s already released, the flow runs again. You might want a flag or something to avoid processing the same shipment twice.
If you’re on a recent BC version, a custom business event is honestly the cleaner way to do it. Subscribe to the after-release event on the warehouse shipment release codeunit, raise an external business event from there, and use the “When a business event occurs” trigger in Power Automate. It fires once per release, so you don’t need the condition or the extra Get record step.
